My latest blog is a note from your friendly neighborhood psychologist on how to stay sane in these challenging times, based on ideas from two minds theory: https://sites.google.com/view/two-minds/blog
Read Psalm 91 in Book of Psalms and you stay sane without any theories.
King James Version
¹He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ²I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. ³Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. ⁴He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. ⁵Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; ⁶Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Thank you for your response, which had me humming the song “on eagle’s wings.“ My slight concern about this psalm as a narrative is that it might lead people to feel invulnerable and they might therefore not take the precautions needed to protect others. That seems to be a particular problem here in the United States. A different verse that I have found personally meaningful these past weeks is Romans 8:37-39 - “in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us; for I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord“ (NRSV). I point out in passing that my original post is here on a scientific website, which is devoted to intellectual pursuits like the sharing of theories. Peace to you in these troubled times.
