Someone i know heads a unit in a big organisation. She is currently conducting a survey in the organisation which she hopes would provide some meaningful answers for the organisation's future direction.This same individual wishes to take up postgraduate study in organisational behavior. Is it ethical for her to adopt her current organisational survey and rather use that as her academic research focus? Has this been done anywhere else? How was the issue of objectivity managed? Any publications on this? Please help.
The question is not easy to give an unequivocal answer . How and based on what instructions , has data been collected ? She can not change the question and use the same materials based on a different issue. Contrast, the collected data and the interpretation of the data constitute the leader's pre-understanding and from this pre-understanding can the researcher create new aim and new research questions witch she use in her academic research. I recommend the researcher to consult a method book, witch can guide her in the research process. Good luck!
