Studying vertebral column in detail using the components of this acronym S.P.I.N.E. (This paper won first place in a Physiotherapy conference, held at Sivakasi, India in 2014)
Too simplified. What about facet syndrome? What about issues with varieties of myofascial pain syndromes including deep sets like Quadratus or iliopsoas.? The acronym would never fly for physicians.
Under each component of this acronym lies an ocean of details about vertebral column. For example, under segmental characteristics (S), the facet joint anatomy, facet joint biomechanics and facet joint malalignment/pathomechanics can be learned.
Too complex. Most things spinal are dependent upon a normal functioning, level sacral base. This can cause everything from idiopathic scoliosis to neck pain. If the sacral base is normal the next thing you must check is for a postural forward head. The spine functions as a decreasing wave form through rhythmic sacrocranial vertebral oscillation, to steady the skull and stabilize the visual plane.
Next thing to check is a postural forward head. May cause thoracic kyphosis, facet problems, and shear at C7-Ti. Restore normal function to these two areas first and most everything else falls into line.
