I am doing a project on ergonomic assessment of agricultural workers. Which questioner is better than for ergonomic assessment of workers or drivers in agricultural sector? Nordic? Or Cornell? Or other possible questioner?
Our experimental study on the ergonomic assessment of tractors drivers revealed that drivers had the highest stress on the back (Quadratus Lumborum) and leg (Vastus medialis). And I want to study this issue through questioner. I guess Nordic questioner is old and there are some new and good questioners in terms of ergonomic assessment of workers.
You are right about Nordic questionnaire – it is old. But this is a well tried tool and international standard. Still most researcher use it in the ergonomic evaluation. Some use Cornel University Questionnaire or NIOSH. I suggest use Nordic questionnaire with Borg CR10 scale for measure of exertion of disorder. Moreover in this way you will be able compare your results with other scientists, occupation and so on. Additionally usually it include a body map with 9 body parts. Of course you can add an extra segments of the body.
I can suggest you a tools developed by a Young German researcher that had presented her work at AHFE Conference in 2014; her name is K. Buehlmeye; Her work title is: A new generation of tractor seats
The Nordic questionnaire has been used extensively and one advantage is that you can compare the prevalence of symptoms to other studies using the same tool. A body part discomfort map would be another alternative, but provides an assessment at a particular time. The Borg scales measure exertion which is not quite the same. Borg gives you a measure of effort rather than the outcome (discomfort or disorders) that Nordic or discomfort scales provide.
