I have XRD-pattern for graphite-like carbon nanoparticles (obtaining by Bruker D8 Advance in Fe-anode). So there are peaks (002), (10), (004). Sometimes (10)-peak is decomposed into (100) and (101). What way is better to calculate Lc-value: by mean of (002) or (004) peak. These peaks have different broadening.
good luck! Without a proper modelling of the microstructure of the material and taking the instrument into account, any size quantity you extract has little physical meaning (the 00l should give the same size if no other broadening effects would be present)
The separation of the (10) band into Bragg reflections is presumably caused by a reduction in the defect content
Dear Prof.Leoni, can you explain me what do you mean when you talk about "proper modelling". Th experience with XRD of graphite-like carbon nanoparticles is not known for me, it's my first experience, and i haven't any advices from someone.
As for instrument broadering, i take it into account...

the question is if your material is still "graphitic" or if it is turbostratic carbon structure. See my recent publication in Advanced Eng. Mater. If this is turbostratic carbon structure, I wrote the computer program which allows to fit the measured XRD data refine tje La and Lc sizes. If you would like, send me measured data and I can try it. Actually, I do not know in which experimental setting You measured the data, but because of very small absorption of carbon, the use of parallel beam geometry is recomended.
Maybe I am wrong, but I believe that searching for La and Lc in carbon nanoparticles is meaningless as these quantities may be of the same order of magnitude than the particle size itself. La and Lc in graphites are several tens to hundreds of nm, higher than the size of nanoparticles, so the question is: what is your particles' size ?
What about Raman spectra ?

About parallel beam geometry i've read before but i don't have this option, only Bragg-Brentano geometry.
