Hello, I have taken the sample from the fish skin and found something strange, the organism, most probably Ichthyobodo necator, but my team think it is to big for ichtyobodo. I have puted the video link from you tube, and I hope that you are going to help my with the identification. The video is not so clean due to my bad camera. The fish was Abramis brama.

Unfortunately, it was difficult to observe the object in the video. Ichthyobodo necator is a common species and can be recognised by 400 x magnification however its characteristic moving can be seen with 100 x enlargement. I am not a specialist in this field.

Ichthyobodiasis usually presents as skin disease with increased skin and/or gill mucus production. If you did a wet preparation of the gills, the tell tale feature is an extremely small drop-shaped uninucleate organism with attached to the gill epithelial surface by a very fine appendage and in heavy infections, form rows or groups. They can be free swimming (5-15 microns diameter), but the differential would be the hexamita group of flagellates (5-20 microns)- which come from the gastrointestinal tract. Your video looks like Hexamita/Spironucleus spp. - that spiralling/flipping motion is characteristic. Definitive diagnosis is based on histopathology of the gills/skin or Giemsa stain of the air dried/heat fixed smear - look for single flagellum in Ichthyobodo and up to 8 flagellae (6 on one end, and 2 long recurrent ones going to the tail end) in the Hexamita/Spironucleus spp.
Noga 2010 is a good practical reference book for fish pathogens including Icthyoboda spp.
