I have simulated process of radiative(solar) heat transfer through a glass pipe to the water which is stationary as both the ends of the glass pipe are closed by insulating material.Thickness of glass is 5mm and inner diameter is 50mm. Boundary conditions that I given are as
water inlet and outlet=0 heat flux,
Glass Wall=700W/m2,
Glass Inlet & Outlet=0 W/m2
steady state simulation was performed and got results (contours as shown below)for temperature of water and contour of incident radiation which are wrong as the values for temperature and incident radiation got too high as shown in images.
So please guide me where I am wrong..............
I think you're over-complicating the problem by approaching it this way. The question is, "what will make it through the glass and what will be absorbed by the water?" and that can be determined without a transient simulation.
I think Dudley meant, if the temperature distribution in the outlet of the tube is not the point, a steady state simulation is sufficient.
You can even do the calculation by hand .
I am doing steady state simulation but the results that I am getting for water or on the surface of glass tube are too high that around 5000K for just 700W/m2 flux on the glass tube.
Ok, at that point I do not really get the problem. Do you have a mass flow through the pipe? If not, the result could be true because of the missing or very small energy sink respectively. The steady state simulation tries to find the energy equilibrium.
