I'm pursuing Master's in Computer Science. My area of expertise is software development (web full stack).
I am new to research domain and processes. I'm trying to search for a research topic but having a hard time narrowing down to research gap.
I'm exploring following areas in NLP
Apart from NLP I'm looking for
1. Microservices architecture patterns
2. Component based software frameworks
All I'm finding online are survey papers. Am I using too generic keywords? Can someone help in how to narrow down to a topic from domain/ research area?

Great to hear you opting for research.
In this time frame of developing AI and implementing worldwide, NLP is a great option. I have a few research topics to suggest based on your interests in Multi-lingual NLP. You can research on the topics /projects, which include inculcation of a limited training dataset of languages which are low-resource languages viz (they don’t have enough resources to serve as models for natural language processing. Speakers of these low-resource languages generally don’t have ready access to information on the latest medical advice or computing mechanics).
On the same model you can then try and implement multi and cross-lingual approaches and try to improve the performance metrics for unsupervised and transfer learning techniques.
