The article is quite dated, but in it the authors clearly explicate the methodology and the types of data that was collected for their case study. The best thing to do is consult a textbook on qualitative research methods, which will provide you with the step-by-step process. However, case study work can be recursive and not necessarily a series of sequential steps. I would recommend the texts by Merriam or Patton. There are also plenty of textbooks that discuss the topic in discipline-specific contexts.
