The solubility of gases in water depends on some variables. As well as, dissolving capacity of a gas in pure water depends on the molecular interactions of the water and gas molecules. On the other hand, the solubility of a gas in water, particularly depends on the temperature of water. Cold water have the higher solubility capacity on hot water. We know that, carbon dioxide molecule has a slight negative charge near the oxygen molecule and a slight positive charge near the carbon molecule, known as polarity. water molecules are attracted to these polar areas of carbon dioxide. The bond between carbon and oxygen is not as polar as the bond between hydrogen and oxygen, but it is polar enough that carbon dioxide can dissolve in water. This is why, carbon dioxide is highly soluble in water rather than carbon monoxide and oxygen.
