Dear researchers

For the received signal y=s+n; the noise variance is denoted by (var_n), If we would like to apply conventional energy detection of the received signal for a given SNR, and Pfa; my question is: What is meant by noise variance that is needed to find the threshold. I'm asking this question, because some researchers uses a (var_n=1), others using the inverse of snr (var_n=1/snr), can any one clear this please?

For energy detector Matlab implementation please refer to the given link.

Best regards.
