I recently received these cells as a gift from one of my colleagues. I wish to use these in my research which is on anticancer activity of some cyanobacteria species. I couldn't find any broad information about these cells on internet or from literature. I am wondering if these cells are suitable for this kind of studies?

Usually, the anti-cancer activity of a compound is tested on cancer cell lines as an in vitro model using cytotoxicity assay. MM418C1human melanoma cells is a cancer cell line. So, you can go ahead and use MM418C1 human melanoma cell line to check the anti-cancer activity of cyanobacteria species. Besides MM418C1, you need to check the anti-cancer activity of cyanobacteria species on few other cancer cell lines as well.
Also, you need to have a control like a normal (non-cancer) cell line such as Vero cell line (a kidney epithetical cell line derived from an African Green Monkey) to check the effect of cyanobacteria species on normal cells.
