It depends on whether the tool is virtual or not.

if not - I do not recommend the use of the model directly, unless as a starting point, which will be subject to modify.

I believe  TAM can be one starting point to understand the acceptance of the tool in R&D but you need to look carefully at the generalization of the model which was not probably developed for this kind of context.
