KAP is a controversial tool to assess knowledge, attitude and practices of target communities. Researchers make their own analytical categories and ask people whether they know about this. The question then arises, "Whose knowledge are we asking about?" Do they know what WE know? Second, attitude is very difficult to measure through these tools. Third, people may not actually practice what they report.
But anyhow if you want to use KAP tool, you will have to develop one depending on the context of that particular community. Before designing a KAP tool, you'll have to conduct some qualitative research in order to know and understand what sort of questions need to be added in the tool.
