I am wondering if I am violating copyrights issues and risking plagiarism if I copy-paste certain amounts of text from my own previously published papers. This is since I am working in the same research area and sometimes, the introduction of the papers are more or less the same.
Can anybody please let me know?

You can do so by referring. Of course, you should derive something new
If you copy texts verbatim from your previous publication it's still plagiarism (self plagiarism). You have to change things and cite your previous work.
No problem with me. Repetition is the mother of wisdom. If this is not a sufficient argument, any allegation of plagiarism in your case can be easily dismissed by the following statement: Plagiarism is the action or practice of plagiarizing; the wrongful appropriation or purloining, and publication as one's own, of the ideas, or the expression of the ideas of another. And if this is still not enough, i would quote Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy: "Ideas are nonrivalrous" -- which means that if you internalize an idea of another, it becomes your idea as well. Moreover, in your case, "of another" and "your" refer to one and the same person, i.e., you. Your copy-pasting is unassailable.
You can't do it directly unless ure copying it for your thesis. For journal papers, please cite your paper in your new manuscript and modify the language accordingly. Else it will be plagiarism. Please take this as a note of caution as I myself faced this issues during my early master degree days. I hope it helps.
Make your sentences as unique as possible in your new write up and also cite ur previous paper in order to avoid any plegiarism.
