Hi,
I was planning to do an IPA on how a specific intervention (Befriending) is helping young adults. Due to lack of participants I decided to change my research to systematic review. Now my question is that I have a feeling that there won't be many researches on befriending on young adults. Can I do some kind of research where in I find how befriending is helping people across all age spans and then do a different review on what young people expects from the interventions and compare the two? If it seems right how will I go on about it?
Also if anyone has better idea on how I should redefine my research your ideas are welcomed.

I do not understand what is IPA but when the controls and experimental designs are very similar or the same, you may well compare the different criteria. However, I am under an impression that the experts have conventional standards that they follow strictly. I think you should be more specific to get useful suggestions from others.
Your question is a bit confusing. It is not clear if you are planning for an SLR or an RCT

A systematic review formulates a well thought out question and addresses it. It identifies all relevant published and unpublished evidence , selects studies or reports for inclusion, assesses the quality of each study or report, synthesizes the findings from individual studies or reports in an unbiased way, interprets the findings and presents a balanced and impartial summary of the findings with due consideration of any flaws in the evidence. Your suggestion is good. Using clustering as a result of age is good. You can still use online survey to get the data.
If you conduct a systematic review with a well defined question and PICO according to the protocol and find no eligible studies, that is a finding, it will be an empty review which illustrates the need for research in the field. eg.
