Hi, Not sure what you mean by Economic Efficiency (maybe technical efficiency?). In case that is what Frontier does. But if you have a Stata license I would strongly suggest you to use the user-written program "sfcross" or "sfpanel" (depending on your data).

There are two concepts of efficiencies in DEA analysis--Technical and Allocative. From the output orientation point of view we have the following definitions.

Technical efficiency = (the distance from the origin to a point below the frontier)/ (the distance from the origin to a point on the frontier).

Allocative efficency =(the distance from the origin to a point on the frontier)/ (the distance from the origin to a point on the price line).

Overall Economic Efficiency = (technical efficiency) x (Allocative Efficiency)

Yes frontier models both parametric and non parametric  can be used to measure analyze trends in economic and technical efficiency. It is interesting to collate the observations about efficiency on the basis of various estimation methods.  

Hi Nhung, in efficiency measurement, especially when using the parametric approach, economic efficiency scores are obtained by estimating a stochastic cost function, just as technical efficiency is obtained via estimation of the stochastic frontier production function. Hence, if you wish to conduct SFA using Frontier or STATA for instance,  then simply estimate d cost function to obtain economic efficiency scores. However, note that the data requirements for Economic efficiency are more than what is required for tech. efficiency.
