Can EDC/NHS show an increased current response while performing DPV in phosphate buffer?

Usually, after coating the electrode surface with EDC/NHS, a decrease in the current response while performing voltametric analysis can be observed. But in my case the opposite is observed. Can anyone tell me the probable reasons for it?
