From the abstract:
There is currently an unprecedented level of doubt regarding the reliability of research findings in psychology. Many recommendations have been made to improve the current situation. In this article, we report results from PsychDisclosure.org, a novel open-science initiative that provides a platform for authors of recently published articles to disclose four methodological design specification details that are not required to be disclosed under current reporting standards but that are critical for accurate interpretation and evaluation of reported findings.

Doubt regarding the reliability of research findings does not only occur in psychology but all research brings about questions on reliability. Disclosure of any potential conflict is the best tool we have to demonstrate credibility which can go along way towards the feeling of reliability of our research. The failure of researchers to disclose potential conflict of interest brings about questions on the reliability and the confidence we might have in their published research.
I have always felt if you are afraid or reluctant to disclose that is an indication that you probably should not being doing what you are doing. I would even take disclosure one step father than just disclosing your actions but also disclose your intent.
