Most Talent Models authors exalt the value of Creativity for Talent Development. Do you consider that Creativity can be developed during Higher Education? Or instead, you think that this skill can only be developed during childhood?
Creativity alone is not enough. It must be nurtured alongside that package of dispositions, qualities and capabilities necessary for success when tackling difficult problems. Ron Barnett (2008:15) says " ‘Will’ is the most important concept in education. Without a will nothing is possible."
Being creative is a matter of choice, a matter of opportunity (often self-created) and a matter of knowing how to be creative in a given situation (or having the confidence to try and learn through the experience of trying). If we want learners to be creative we have to foster their will to be creative and help them develop the confidence, knowledge and capabilities to be creative.
