Can Carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester (CFSE) stain or enter dead cells? and how does it work?

Thank you very much for the answer, Christina !! I work with Mesenchymal stem cells from mammalian sources. So I think in this case it should be alright for me to use this method in my work.
