When the power system has a series compensated capacitor and the system operated in dynamic mode, the Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) may occur, and this phenomenon sometimes leads to turbine shaft damage. Therefore, SSR should be mitigated using different types of FACTS but in my study, I was using the gate controlled series capacitors (GCSC). So, I want more details about the disadvantages of GCSC in mitigating SSR in the wind power system based on DFIG.

The computation of resonant frequencies (fundamental and harmonics) should be part of the turbine shaft design procedure. In turn, the operating turbine speed (RPM) should be chosen so as not to induce any of these frequencies. Otherwise a redesign of the system, including turbine shaft length between bearings and shaft diameter may be necessary.
