When the power system has a series compensated capacitor and the system operated in dynamic mode, the Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) may occur, and this phenomenon sometimes leads to turbine shaft damage. Therefore, SSR should be mitigated using different types of FACTS but in my study, I was using the gate controlled series capacitors (GCSC). So, I want more details about the disadvantages of GCSC in mitigating SSR in the wind power system based on DFIG.
