I'm working with oxidizing bacteria of manganese and iron, and i'm using calcium carbonate as a carbon source. I tried to prepare the solution, but it doesn't work. I dissolved this substance in water and the final solution is like a cream. I don't know if that is supposed to happen or if I'm doing it wrong. I searched in some books, but all the books say to dissolve this substance and that I must do it in hydrochloric acid 1:1. If I use this solution, the reaction is going to release CO2, which is not so good because I need it for the carbon source in my medium. Can anyone suggest how to solve this problem? Or perhaps suggest a protocol?
