Essential oils are easily detected in GCMS as it is volatile. But Plant crude extracts are comprises of alkaloid, flavnoid, di/tri terpenoids, phenolics etc. which can't be detected by GCMS and will come as noisy peaks. But if we can separate the di/tri terpenoids from the mixture using some reagents those di/tri terpenoids can be detected. So is there any specific reagent used for it.
I agree with colleagues above - but generally as in article above you wont get anything that is not volatile. Also when you derivatize you increase mass of compounds and you may get into the limits of the instrument.

Simply Hydrodistill and collect water on another side of condensor. All the volatiles will come in this water. Not the water can be fractionated by DCM. The DCM layer can be used for GC-MS as it is or after concentration.
First, I would recommend you run a TLC plate with hexane/EtOAc 7:3 if your extract profile shows spots with Rf different of zero, these compounds will be able to be analyzed by GC-MS without derivatization. In order to separate them, make a sílica gel CC (filtration) using the same mobile phase system.
First take any aromatic plant hydrodistil it and collect the water from condensor on another side. Thus obtained water extract with DCM. The DCM extractive take arround 20 mg and mix with 2 ml DCM. The sample is ready for GC-MS
