Textile in general use means cloth or fabric. In specialized use, textile means something made with interwoven fibers. The textile industry can be considered to include every step from fiber production to manufacture of cloth or fabric (i.e., a textile). The apparel industry then includes every step from receiving the textiles to production of finished clothing. However, notice that to many people, the terms textile and fabric are interchangeable.
I think that the most common classification is to classified the Clothing Industry (all product used to produce the garments ) and Technical Textiles that involve a range of product with different applications as medicine, sealing, filtration etc.
It is not a simple task to classify textiles, due to the many factors you can consider. You can start with the end-use, and consider three domains - garments, decorative products and technical applications. Each domain can be divided into subdomains. For technical textiles I suggest the division used by Techtextil in Frankfurt (12 fields of application - agriculture, buildings, clothing, geotextiles, products for home, industrial applications, medical textiles, textiles for automotive, for packing, for protection, for sports and leisure and textiles used in activities related to ecology) but this can be debated. Some researchers consider composites a separate domain, other include military textiles in their classification.
All types of textile raw materials, structures and processes can be used. The designer must select the ones that will give the best results, based on his/her experience and on existingh knowledge.
Textile Industry can be defined as the Manufacturing activities right from fiber production to finished goods Viz Ginning Spinning, weaving , Knitting garmenting wet processing etc textile products are out put from these Industries viz Bales from Ginning , Yarns from Soinning , Fabrics from weaving and Dyed and printed fabrics from processing
Another classification is apparel, Industrial , Home Textiles furhter , Summer wear Winter wear , Baby care Health care Sports wear . Man made fiber is being introduced in Infrastructure development and automation of the Engineering Industry. Simple It applicationa need Optical fibres
Depends on the definition of textiles (See Textile Terms and Definitions, The Textile Institute, UK - definitions on line). All aspects can be included in the term textiles: fibres through to finished products. Finished products also are diverse and can form the basis for classification (geotextiles, medical textiles, household textiles, apparel, carpets). Althought the term technical textiles is used, its definition is not very specific and thus not especially helpful.
