I wish to analyse video footages of ice-breeding seals collected in Antarctica. The video needs to be slowed down and zoomed in to identify the species and also to do exact counts in case of large congregations. Please suggest me a video processing tool which can help me do that.
I know of a few "single image" (frame) based CNN's that could help you, all you need is to parse the video into frames and run the CNN's with the frames as your inputs.
Basically, these networks know to detect and/or localize specific class of objects (not a specific specimen), so all you've got left is to accumulate all the different specimens.
The easiest of them, also it has pre-trained seal object, in my opinion is MatConvNet (running on MATLAB) by VLFeat. You can get it in the link provided.
If you feel more confidence in your CNN's, I'd suggest Caffe (Ubuntu needed) instead.

Thanks for your reply. I am unaware of the CNNs as of now but I will read them up and see if I they can be useful for the analysis I want to do with my data. I will get in touch with you on my progress.
