you can measure it with the help of stereo-zoom microscopy. The associated software of the microscope has the facility to measure such kinds of features.
Other wise also if you do not want to measure with high accuracy you can simply scan with ordinary optical scanner and make pdf file of the scanned area. Next u can open the pdf file in adobe professional. The measure tool of the adobe can be used to measure the area
If it's a flat surface, I've found optical profilometry to be the best for this type/size of area. Most profilometer systems will have software that will give you the surface area. If it is particles, then BET is probably to only way to do it easily.
Your question is not clear. If I understood correctly, I think you can use "clemex" software to analyse micrographs feature.
You can use MountainsMap software to analyse microtopographic (including (ir)regular 2D profile or 3D areal) surface texture features.
Do the Gas adsorption measurement of the sample and from same data you can calculate surface area of your compound.

I have successfully done similar analyses with a Laser Scanning Microscope. Depending on what accuracy you need, you should use red or blue laser. Our Lab is equipped with a Keyence VK 8710 LSM (red laser, accuracy of about 1µm).
BET is good and fast method. you can try SEM just for general analysis.
You can use the image analysis to measure the surface area. If you have a micrographe with its scale, I ca send you my application to mesure the surface area.
