What kind of simulation you want to make ?. What results do you want to study?. According to phenomenology to study, you can use different types of software.
I probably am going to model a electrolyser in both steady state and transient conditions, then carry out the parametric study on various performance parameters like current, voltage, production rate and also testing different electrodes.
According to the results you want to get, you can use different types of software.
For example, to simulate the behavior of a ELECTROLYZER within a larger system, TRNSYS is a very useful for these simulations (especially in transient systems).
However, if you want to simulate the behavior of an ELECTROLYSIS CELL, you can use CFD programs. These software allow you to analyze the electrochemical, thermal and fluid dynamic effects that occur within an alkaline electrolysis cell.
PD. How are you going to analyze the effect of using different electrodes?. What are the parameters?. Porosity, conductivity, dimensions, distance between electrodes...?
Which type electrolyser did you want Mr Reza. they have two type of electrolszer for this current research. The first type is advance alkaline electrolyser and the second type is polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser also known as solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) electrolyser. The advance alkaline electrolyser use liquid as electrolyte and PEM use solid as electrolyte. You can refer 'A simple model for solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) water electrolysis' Solid State Ionics 175 (2004) 535–539. for PEM electrolyser and 'Mathematical modelling and simulation analysis of advanced alkaline electrolyzer system for hydrogen production http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2212017314001686.
hopefully it will help you Sir.

I think in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser , CFD can best be used to simulate thermal, mass transport, fluid dynamics and pressure drop characteristics across bipolar plates . but for electrochemical analysis such as voltage, overpotentials, polarization and electrode activity of the electrodes and membrane , I suggest you use Comsol Multiphysics or MATLAB.
we are using KOH elctrolyser plant producing 60m3/hr ,and we have issue with corrosion ,any body can advise the best alternative solution for KOH electrolyser
My electrolyser is PEM one and it already exists in our Lab, I need to analyse it thermochemically or maybe in future thermofluidically.
CFD softwares I think they dont have thermochemical tools, so I think I cant model my system for now and for future studies get benefit of it, am I right?
MATLAB is good esp when I want to optimize my model, but do you know if TRNSYS has optimization tool or not?
I dont know, I am asking you, can I study different electrode materials for my electrolyser in CFD and TRNSYS software? I know MATLAb doesnt help with materials and whatever, it only is calculating machine.
