I am trying to buy a Calcium Fluoride crystal for white light continuum generation for Transient absorption spectroscopy. I will be rotating the crystal along its axis. Should I buy c axis cut crystal or randomly cut crystal? What are other the factors that I need to consider? Could you suggest where you get the crystal from ?
You can buy them from (I did) newlight photonics (http://www.newlightphotonics.com/) or from eksma optics. C-axis cut crystal (usually sold) is perfect for WLG. You should definitely rotate the crystal to have a stable WLG without damage to the crystal. Otherwise you can try sapphire (easier to handle, no need of rotating, also capable of efficient WLG)

You can buy it from newlight photonics or from Eksma optics (just google both of them). CaF2 cut on c-axis is just fine for WLG. You should definitely move it or rotate it in order to have stable WLG without crystal damage. Anyway, you can also use a sapphire crystal (easier to handle, no need of rotating it, typically, and good WLG properties as well).

We were using the Sapphire. But now we want to exceed the probe wavelength in UV ( below 400 nm).
c-axis cut crystals have a nonlinear birefringence so we cannot rotate them unless we apply a circularly polarized pump beam. Instead, we needs to continuously translate them.
we want to rotate the crystal to its axis( easier) so should we use "The randomly oriented polished faces relative to the crystal axis to minimize the birefringence" like http://www.thorlabs.us/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_id=3978 (thorlabs caF2 crystal) ?
Please give me some suggestion which crystal should I use if I want to rotate the crystal in its axis ?
