In my center, an academic hospital in Spain, and an ESMO Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care, we are outlining a new protocol for Early Palliative Care intervention in advanced cancer patients. Does anyone have a protocol that is working well in university hospitals?
Some of you may be interested in the free online resources available through the 'Palliative Care Curriculum for Undergraduates (PCC4U)' project. PCC4U promotes the inclusion of palliative care education as an integral part of all medical, nursing, and allied health undergraduate and entry to practice training, and ongoing professional development. Free learning modules (with video vignettes) are available on the following topics: Principles, Communication, Assessment, Optimisation, Multidisciplinary Care, Aboriginal Populations, Caring for Children and Culture-Centred Care. Also available is a simulation scenario - instructional materials to support the implementation of a palliative care high fidelity simulated learning activity for health care students using an advanced patient simulator (you need a mannequin, associated software and clinical laboratory set up etc). Hola Estimados Carlos & Martin, would love to connect with you and discuss - this is very much my passion. I have been looking at various models that have been in place around the US and abroad. There is possibly as many protocols as places that implemented. I am very interested in a model of early palliative care delivery that focuses on psycho-social-spiritual support including a variety of touch and mind-body interventions, involves low cost modalities, informal caregivers support, and that provides an aspect that is commonly forgotten that is staff self-care opportunities. I am also interested in testing this model in low-income countries were supportive/palliative care is a luxury and usually only involves pain management because of lack of resources. I am interested in financially sustainable models of care.
Regarding the Spiritual support I can suggest you all about the MASCC multidisciplinar working group on spirituality and also the Palliative working group. Have a look at MASCC website.

how to integrate early palliative care into everyday oncology practice is the challenge. Ask the question of "do u expect the pt to be alive in 6 months?" i the answer is no then PC should involved
