I am working on self-assembly of triblock copolymer in aqua-organic mixed solution. I want to know the value (experimental/theoratical/computational calculated) of Hansen solubility parameter for Poly-L-Lysine or L-lysine. So, I can select the solvent/combine solvent ratio. I tried my best to find the value on internet but couldn't obtain it. Please help me. If you have any article or book. then please share link. Thanks in advance.
Remember that PLL is normally used as a salt (typically the HBr salt). What you're asking is a quite complex question.
Essentially when highly protonated (pKa ca. 10.5) it should be water soluble and insoluble in organic solvents, and visa versa when a free base. At physiological pH PLL is essentially fully protonated.
Without knowing more about the solvent system I suggest you look into the adjusting the pH of the solution.
Dear Bryn, I know the physical condition (like pka and protonation/deprotation etc.) of PLL. I am using THF-H2O mixed solvent systems for PS-PLL-PEG triblock copolymer. i know below values of solubility parameters from literatures. if I know the value the solubility parameter of PLL so I can calculate the Flory-Huggins interaction Parameter.
