This plant species was observed growing on basal zone of a wall of Varanasi city in Uttar Pradesh state of India.
Shrubs to 3m; stem ashy-grey, branches pubescent. Leaves opposite, ovate to rhomboid-ovate, entire to sinuate-crenate, subacute-obtuse; Cymes dichotomously branched, axillary, forming a rounded terminal panicle. Flowers creamy-white, densely hirsute; bracts ovate lanceolate. Calyx campanulate, glabrous, pale, yellowish green, inflated, 5-lobed; lobes 4-5 mm long, ovate-triangulate, Corolla-tube much narrower than the calyx, pubescent externally; lobes 5, subequal, ovate-elliptic, 7-8 mm long, obtuse. Drupe obovoid, 8-12 mm long, black, wrinkled, usually 4-lobed. Seeds oblong, white. Species name: Clerodendrum phlomidis L.f. Family: Lamiaceae. Plz check Aravind Sir.....
Difiicult to say what it is from this picture. Did you see any flowers?
No have not seen any flowers.
I suspect it may be a Sida (Malvaceae) or related genus, but this needs confirmation by flowers. I don't think it is Populus as this has alternate leaves and branches differently.
