These two Fe flakes are highly enriched in Ni and/or Cr. Other similar ones are composed of wustite with low oxygen. They were found in similar-aged end-glacial samples from four ocean cores in Baffin Bay. We have ruled out anthropogenic contamination. Some publications show similar flakes in peat deposits from cometary dust. Others show nearly identical particles from terrestrial mantle deposits. Does anyone know how to distinguish an ET origin from a terrestrial one for these flakes?
