Can a common scientific meaning be attributed to the term "Mangrove status assessment" in remote sensing? In many reports - from e.g. environmental authorities - it is agreed that the determination of mangrove extent and status within time is one key element to understand and monitor the ecosystem (e.g. evaluate the effects of increasing antrophic pressure or of climate change). So what is intended with status assessment? Something like change detection? Or something related to the health that like terrestrial plants can be measured by RS vegetation indexes (LAI, NDVI, greenness)? Or something other not measurable by RS?
