I tried to setup eucalyptus private cloud inside vmware workstation and I'm having enough resources. I just want to experience with eucalyptus cloud. I used eucalyptus faststart 3.4.1 iso image. I installed the node controller first and assign a static ip. Then I installed the front end and both uses same network interface eth0.
Everything is fine untill now when I execute "euca-describe-availability-zones verbose" shows no resources in cpu and ram it shows zero alone.
The node controller is in not ready state.
Based on the NIST definition, the cloud computing are categorized as public, private, community, and hybrid based on their deployed service model. The private cloud is where the cloud computing service is available for a certain organization inside a firewall and is not available for general public. Public cloud provide on-demand cloud computing services for general public via internet that is owned by an organization that provide a cloud services. When several organizations shared same cloud services that support their community concerns, the deployed model is called a community cloud. Some organizations run their private cloud inside the organized and shared a public or community cloud service at the same time. Such deployed model is called hybrid cloud.
In cloud computing, the deployed service model can be provided on a private or public level. Provide a secure environment in the private cloud is an easy task since the data are bounded within a certain organization within a firewall and it is not available for general public. On the other hand, providing a secure environment in the public cloud is considered a hard and complex task, since the data are available on the internet outside the firewall. In cloud computing, the subscribers can not control their data by themselves. They do not know the location of the data, the network that transmit the data, and the server that process the data. Thus, they can not guarantee how much the cloud environment is secure.

According to my experience installing Eucalytpus for research purposes, the most likely way to solve your problem is synchronizing the clocks (system time) between the node and the cloud controller. This is a step that is not usually mentioned in most Eucalyptus tutorials, but it is rather important. You may try to adjust the system clock using linux tools such as date and hwclock, but I also recommend using ntpdate and ntp to keep the clocks constantly synchronized.
Why have you installed Eucalyptus inside a virtualization platform such as VMware ? I think that you will have problems to have experience in such environment.
Your problem can be related to the fact that Eucalyptus has access just to the virtual resouces provided by VMware. For instance, i think that eucalyptus needs a CPU with virtualization support. Do the virtual CPU provided VMware has virtualization support ? I do not think so.
