I wonder if there is any research on multi decadal evolution of the mixed layer depth variation of the Black Sea (or at least 1950-2000)? There is a lot of research on the circulation, but not on this topic? More specifically is there any publication on possible abrupt change in the mixed layer depth during the 70's?
Basically the data availability in this region is quite sparse. There is one paper by Helber, Birol Kara et al., but on a climatological scale. The reference to this paper is as given below:
