Gilbert Van stappen in FAO report : Annually, over 2000 metric tons of dry Artemia cysts are marketed worldwide for on-site hatching into 0.4 mm nauplii. In 2009 it was over 2800 metric tons.
Reliable raw cysts harvested statistics are only available for Great Salt Lake and for production in the Mekong Delta, Viet Nam, where production is systematically monitored by local authorities or scientific organizations and for example In Iran and urmia lake we have serious problems about Artemia urmiana cysts that now this is very hard to find cyst.
Our interests are focused on the biochemistry and biophysics of cysts, and Artemia in general, but I am willing to assist as much as possible with your work too. Good luck - Jim
Jim I am very pleased that you responded. Of course I remember your work. We participated in a conference in Moscow in 2002. I show the movie with your participation my students at the lecture. I will appreciate if you will answer the questions that I am currently interested in. I know how many are harvested in the Great Salt Lake, in Russia, in Kazakhstan. Information on other countries is very small.
Hello Liudmilla, You might check out the web site of the Artemia Reference Center in Gent Belgium, and contact Gilbert Van Stappen directly He knows more about this than any one I know of. All good luck, Jim PS I remember the Moscow conference, but how could I have forgotten meeting such a beautiful woman as you?!?
Greetings Liudmila -- how are things going of late? Have you gotten all the information you needed? May 2015 be a good year for you and your loved ones! Jim
I just stumbled across this correspondence, Liudmilla. You have the right people advising you, with Jim and Gilbert. You should also get to know Patrick Soregeloos at the Artemia Reference Center in Ghent. I doubt that I can be of much help, even though you've been citing some of my papers (which is how I found you), but I'd be delighted to help any way I can.
John
P.S. My old friend and colleague has always had an eye for beautiful women!
Thanks for the reply! I met Patrick in February of this year. He was reading the lectures for students in our University. We discussed the issues that interest me. Thank you also for the compliment. I am very pleased!
