i am planning to do my research in content based medical image research. i have studied many feature extraction algorithm. can any one suggest me a particular image modalities and latest research algorithm to concentrate on my research.
Latest researches in CBIR are in the direction of Semantic annotation and Semantic gap elimination. however, I dont know how these issues affect medical images.

From view of textural analysis the class of medical images could be considered as a grand class covers a wide spectrum of textural images, some of images can be effectively considered in terms of edge density, others in terms of shading characteristics, others in terms of color spectral behaviors, others in terms of the geometrical (uniform or non-uniform) behaviors, and so on.
So, I think it is better to identify the types of medical sub-classes you want to work on, then decide to choose the proper type(s) of features you have to depend on for making the retrieval decisions.
