UHMWPE is a difficult material when processing, given it burns before melting. I have seen a couple of process when using such material, machining after sintering by pressure molding -aka gearing-, and sheet extrusion using mineral oil as matrix. May be other people have seen another process.
We in our laboratory process UHMWPE powder by compression molding into porous membranes at about 180-190 oC. The powder is measured into the mold, then it is distributed evenly (possibly by shaking) then it is pre-heated, then compressed under very slight pressure and finally with full pressure. If you need I will collect the paremeters. Depending on the amount of powder used the product can be porous or tight. I have also heard of ram extrusion as a prosessing method, but I have no immediate experience. (Similaryl to Teflon UHMWPE cannot be processed in metl state, only by pressure and sintering).
