Is there anyone that can give me some pictures and information of the anatomy of their reproductive system?
Finally, is it possible isolate their eggs?
I work with a different species of isopod, Porcellionides pruinosus. In the lab, we fed them on alder leaves (Alnus glutinosa), mainly because we conduct feeding inhibition tests using alder leaves as well. And it is better to keep the same food in the cultures and in the tests, as different food sources can modify their gut microbiota (there are a few articles about that).
About the eggs, i think it could be possible to isolate them with the help of binocular microscope.
Ines, I used to keep them on different decomposing plant materials, debries, stubble collected from crops fields, etc. Also, we fed them with sliced potatoes ... Armadllidium vulgare is quite polyphagous. What to use to feed this woodlice depends on whether you just need to keep them alive for some time or to conduct standardized studies.
