It is important whether to include or not to the issue of Industrial training/SIWES in the curriculum of accounting studies in higher institutions. in other to reach a conclusion, will must firstly know the factors determining students performance as accounting as a discipline is now advancing day by day.
I think some the factors are facilities, personnel, funding, work load or schedule.

I think that the performance of the students is measured from their academic results. But that they are influenced for the dedication (work load) they employ for their study.
Some variables that may determine this results are:
Are the student working for pay out of the University?
Have the student a large trip from his/her hom to the University?
Is the student head of his/her family?
Have the student other persons on charge?
May the student share the preparation of his/her exams with his/her fellows?
Has the student any funding?
Did the schedule of the classes affect the performance?
Which was the level of the background study of the student?
May the student get any help for study from his/her parents or any familiar?
Have any perspective of working in account matters after concluding his/her studies that may produce a stimulus for a better performance?
The amount of effort and time that the student put in the course, especially what he/she does off classroom. Practice is also an essential variable.

In my doctoral thesis I analyzed the factors influencing the use of virtual campus for students in a traditional college. In the literature review the performancein previous studies always stated as a factor correlated with the results obtained in the present studies.

Internships or practical training being part of the curriculum is indeed a vital factor. Among others, workload per semester, method of teching delivery, students motivational drive...my two cents.

In a unique setting like Malaysia, it's worth examining the type of etnicity which the students belong to, and how does it affects the student's academic performance. This is also related to Hofstede's cultural dimension theory.
I believe that student gender and lecturer gender may affect students' performance in accounting education. There are evidence that female students taught by male lecturers performed better than female students taught by female lecturers. Male students performed better than male students taught by male lecturers. This could be due to law of attraction.
