Dragendorff’s reagent is used for visualization of alkaloids. Its modifications (e.g. Munier-Macheboeuf) with alkaloids and other compounds are unclear.
What is that modification, can someone elaborate the details please?

Please proceed as follows:
Dragendorff's Reagent (Munier & Macheboeuf Modification)
A. 1.7 g Bismuth subnitrate [BiONO3]
100 mL water-acetic acid (80:20)
___________________________________
B. 40 g Potassium iodide [KI]
100 mL water
___________________________________
Use 5 mL of A and 5 mL of B in
20 mL acetic acid
70 mL water

Go through the attached files and links. Hope it helps. Spraying with H2SO4 will blacken the plate on excessive heating as it will start charring the organic compounds. So just keep it for 5 min at 110C after spraying. Have you tried with the other option in the link i.e., 10% aqs sodium nitrite. May be that proves better. Good Luck
