I am adding metal powder in polycaprolactone of size 4-8 micron, but the tensile properties of the matreial are getting reduced. my aim is to improve the tensile strength of the PCL. Can any body tell me why it is getting down. please suggest me any method to improve the properties. Also, suggest any kind of biocompatible additive if needed to improve the tensile strength.

thank you for the question. I want to ask is it necessary to add metal powder only for improving strength of polymer ? If yes, then obviously strength will decrease because of the different polarity of reinforcement and matrix. Further, as per my literature survey, try ceramic as additive which means now you have to add hybrid reinforcements ( metal + ceramic) .

I agree with Saif Wakeel, nanopartcles will decrease the tensile strength.
With my experience to improve tensile strength best to use nanofibers that are compatible with the matrix. What kind of tensile strength imporvements are you are trying to achieve?
I agree with Anagi Balachandra that you need nanofibers compatible with with the matrix. Check the literature for what is used for ceramic or metal fiber surface treatments compatible with PCL.
