Dr. John Machell , thank you for your answer and I wholly agree with you as I too had speculated on the species being Eudorina, but as the one in the picture lacks a well defined extracellular matrix (at least under the ambient resolution and magnification) in addition to the lack of discernible spaces in between the cells, I had somewhat refrained from including it in the possible species list.
Looking at the picture today, it appears more golden than green. I should have spotted that earlier. Could it be a species of Synuropsis? The colonial habit as well as the cellular organization resemble it very closely.
