The leaves alternate, single, hairy, acute shape. The flowers are white cone. Could it b from the convolvulaceae family plants?The leaves can be edible.
it is in East part of Sri Lanka. it leaves eat for Diabetes mellitus also.
It will be better if any photograph of flower is there. If it has latex it may be the memmber of Apocynaceae.
I doubt this plant is Aniseia martinicensis (Jacq.) Choisy, (Convolvulaceae), widely distributed in Old world tropics. This species is often seen seen near marshy areas.
Was it seen near marshy or water logged area ?
I hope Dr. Mohanan is correct, please post a flowering and fruiting twig, or you refer the Herbarium or botany dept available near by.
To identify any plant it is absolutely necessary to see its flowers. A good close -up photograph of flower along with the inflorescence and detail structures of male and female reproductive organs will help a lot for the correct identification of this plant.

this has white corn flower with purple interior. like Ipoemea sp.
On seeing the flowers I am sure that I was correct. This is Aniseia martinencisis of Convolvulaceae, a marshy member of the family.
Dr. Mohanan is right. It is a species of Ipomea , under family convolvulaceae.
