I think it is C. obscurus, because the coloration of C. obscurus is dark gray to black above with metallic bronze. C. falciformis and C. porosus are usually more brown, but without images of the basal view of the head (is the snouth longer or shorter than mouth wide) it is not easy to ID this species.
Have you considered Carcharhinus brachyurus? I know the dorsal coloration isn't intense bronze, but we just can't rule out the possibility based on a dead specimen.
Hi Bernabe, I'd rather incline to the other options.
I have seen C. brachyurus on port and its particular coloration is yet intense by then. So, I would think that the color should be more intense by the time they got captured. Besides that, fishermen know C. brachyurus as "Mantequero" and the fisherman who took this photo recognized this species as "Vidrio". Also the nose is larger in C. brachyurus.
I know fishermen also calls 'Vidrio' to many other species like Rhizoprionodon longurio, C. leucas, C. limbatus but based on the photograph these are definitely not the case.
With those pictures, Jorge Isaac Rosales ([email protected]) believe that is a tiburon cobrizo Carcharhinus brachyurus, a common species in Peruvian catches.
