Can anybody give me some research directions in the field of compressive sensing on manifolds?

I have started my graduate work on compressive sensing and lately I have a feeling that signals that live on a manifold can have interesting structure to exploit in compressive sensing problems. But I was unable to find comprehensive research direction in this subject, though I think this topic should be nourishing because of the Big Data trend nowadays. Can anybody guide me towards some of these directions as well as preparatory material? Thanks.
