I would like to separate O&M costs for thermal generation and electricity generation in coal-fired CHP unit so I would appreciate if anybody give me some reference where can I find that.
In general, the O&M calculations should take into consideration the following components:
1) Discount rates (5% and 10%).
2) Labor cost in the region of interest.
3) Frequency for maintenance.
4) Cost of components that needs replacement.
5) Downtime (loss of opportunity cost) while conducting the maintenance activities.
Here is a link to an excellent report by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) published in 2010. The report discusses how the O&M costs are calculated.
Thanks a lot for usefull informations. It helps me a lot. Now, I have a problem to separate fuel costs for electricity and fuel costs for thermal power, because I have to calculate separate electricity cost and thermal power cost from coal-fired CHP unit. I thought that operational costs include fuel costs, but it seems that I was wrong?
If I got your doubt correctly, then the explanation is a simple one.
What is known as running cost includes fuel cost only if the generating unit does consume fuel..
But for generators like hydro and wind, no fuel is technically required. So the fuel cost gets eliminated in such cases, and the running cost accordingly assumes a small figure.
