I am working on the ferroelectric ceramics and i am studying the sintering effect on the ceramics. Does the rate of density has any connection to the grain size of the ceramics. How does the grain size varies wrt to the density?
It is clear that grain sizes will increase with increasing sintering temperature in ceramics. If we start out here, we can say that the volume will grow and thus the density will decrease. But in which form the ceramic will be used will gain importance. That is, the volume and mass calculation must be calculated according to the form of the material before and after the sintering. I recently published a study on the effect of sintering temperature on a ceramic material. You can reach my profile if you want.
Karthik yadav penna ...volkan is right ..grain size and density depends on sintering temperature.. specially when you prepared ur ceramic material in pellet form
Density, grain size depends on the sintering time, sintering temperature and sintering procedure. And also the depends on the ceramic powder size.
We should consider all these steps. I have been published some research articles on some ceramics. Go through my papers. Maybe you will get some information from this.
Wish you good luck. If you have any questions regarding, don't hesitate to ask me.
Thank you very much for sharing knowledge and response. It helped me a lot.
Upon increasing the sintering time grain size also increases, What is maximum limit to tha increase in the grain size? Does it decrease after reaching the maximum size?
Venkata Ramana Mudinepalli Sir, I am preparing ferroelectric based ceramics . After reaching the maximum grain size if we keep on sintering .will the larger grains bursts into smaller grains or will they remain in same size?
Once the grain sie reaches the maximum sie, It wont be brusts into small pieces. It means...the sample will cook at over sintering. Try to make reasonable sintering temperature and set that to get either nm grains.
