If Carbon as a part of C:N ratio increases, it increase the reproductive growth of plants that attracts pests attacking to reproductive growth of plants. But, Carbon as a part of CO2 , when CO2 level is increased up to desired and tolerable level to plants, plant will produce more biomass (i.e. vegetative growth) that attracts more foliage feeding insect pests and allows them to develop with least food competition and high protection through plant canopy against NEs. If CO2 level is high in stored grain/products, it adversely affects the pest population and its growth too. In nutshell, this may lead expansion of insect pests, increased abundance of pests, favors multiplication of pests ultimately increased extent of economic losses.
